the actual spelling is Nerix. Father Charles Nerix was a traveling priest for the Roman Catholic Parishes of the Late 1700's, early to mid 1800's. He is buried in the Loretto Motherhouse Cemetery. Nerix, Kentucky . If memory from grade school serves me right he was Belguim. He would have been closely associated with the Buckman and Abell Families, and is was the practice to name children after the religious.
