Hello Alma,
It has been a while since we last wrote but I couldn't help when I saw your name again looking for Moses Buckley.
I have been doing some more research on my husband's line of John Buckley who came from Virginia to Mississippi to East Texas. He did get Land which is recorded at the General Land Offices in Austin, Texas which is where I saw a date of 1824.
John Buckley is listed in a published book "The First Census of Texas 1829-1836", Teneha District or Municipality, (pg 7):
Buckley, John, farmer... 47
, Elizabeth.........43
, Martha.........18
, Tyre (Tyne)........211836-21=1815! b MS NOT IL
, Elizabeth.......14
, Sina...........12
, Turner.........10
, John (Jr)....... 8
, Malinda..........1
I have checked 1810 Mississippi Census and have seen a Virginia Buckley listed!
I would speculate that John Buckley's wife's maiden name may have been Turner and they may have gotten married in Mississippi but I don't know where?I'm still pursuing this missing puzzle.
Tyre Buckley was enlisted for the Battle of San Jacinto also!!There are records listing his military service!
May I sugggest you write the General Land Office for John & Tyree Buckley Land Grants!I have found information including a definitive date when John Buckley arrived from Virginia in Texas.
Tyree's Wife Family is also listed on this same First Census of Texas (1836) Census, pg 13:
Moses Wooten..... 50
Margaret..........40
Crowther..........14
Malinda...........12
Susan.............16(FUTURE WIFE OF TYREE BUCKLEY!)
Elizabeth......... 9
Jane.............. 7
Nathan.............6
Malinda............4
Let me hear from you!
