Hi Monica,
Thanks for your prompt and detailed reply. I did not have any of the info you sent me, and it will help me fill in some gaps.If you have any dates for those named I would appreciate them in due course.
I hope I can also help you fill in some gaps. Dr Cornelius Buckley had three brothers(Sir) Patrick, Daniel and Jack. He also had one sister Ellen.I have some additional info on Patrick which I can let you have. I am assuming that Daniel and Jack remained in the Castlehaven area. Ellen became the second wife (of three), of Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa the famous Fenian activist. I have some info on Ellen and Jeremiah.
Regarding my relationship to Dr Buckley, I believe my great-grandfather,also named Cornelius Buckley was a first cousin of Dr.Cornelius Buckley. I havent yet been able to prove conclusively, but all our family folklore and circumstantial evidence points to this with some degree of certainty.
Do you know the locality involved? I know it well as I often visited it in my younger days. I now live some 200 miles away. All these 18th and 19th century Buckleys lived in a very small area. Direct descendants still live in the area today. My branch moved a few miles up the road to Carhoogarriff in the 1830's, but apparently kept in close contact until the late 1920's.
If you want to send me your e-mail address I can send you the info mentioned above.
Kind Regds
Patrick.
