Hi Lucinda ~
Where in IN was William born?Any info on his parents?
I ask because my great-great-great grandmother Margaret Burgoon married a widower Patrick Buckley in 1833 in Blair Co PA, moved to OH for some years -- where Patrick died and Margaret married again, to Patrick O'Neill -- and finally Margaret and all the kids, but no husband,ended up in Vigo Co IN by 1850.
I've been trying to track the children. They included:
- John Buckley b 1830 PA -- Patrick's son by a first marriage;
- Bridget Buckley b 1832 PA -- Patrick's daughter by his first wife;
- Mary Buckley b. 1837 OH -- Patrick and Margaret's daughter;
- William O'Neill b 1844 OH, Margaret's son with Patrick O'Neill;
- Ellen O'Neill b. 1846 OH, Margaret's daughter with Patrick O'Neill;
- Ann(a) O'Neill b 1849 IN, Margaret and Patrick O'neill's daughter, and my great-great grandmother.
Ellen and Ann later married brothers Alfred and Daniel Conover and stayed in the Vigo Co IN area (including just over the IN-IL state line for a few years.But I have not found anything at all on the girls' siblings or mother after 1850.Margaret would have been 40 in 1850, presumably a widow for the second time. Ellen married in 1865, Ann in 1868, and I'm guessing they were living with their mother until then.After that.... ? Margaret might have remarried and moved elsewhere.
The oldest boy, John Buckley, would have been 20 in 1850 and of marriageable age -- in fact, the right age to have had a son around the time your William E. Buckley's was born.
