James J Buckland was born in Missouri in 1869. His first wife was Sallie Elizabeth Murrell in 1894. She died (along with 20 million others) in the influenza epidemic of 1918. In 1921 he married Fannie Givens in Falls Mills, VA.

James' parents were William Jasper Buckland and Emma Tabor Buckland. William was a Confederate soldier (private). They were married in 1865. James was active in Republican politics and was killed when struck by a freight train in 1899. William was given the Parole of Honor, the Confederate equivalent of the Purple Heart for being wounded in combat.

James was one of 6 kids as stated in the 1900 census. The other names that I know of are John (there may have been 2 sons named John as I have 2 very different birthdates?), Maud, and Charles.

I have other information on ancestors if you're interested write me @ buckland@usa.net
