Hello,
Posted a while ago, and hit another dead end. I’m looking for the parents of my 3rd great grandfather Charles William Buckingham - Born 12 FEB 1820 in Maryland, died 15 May 1884, buried in Dovel Memorial Cemetery in Violet Township, Fairfield Co., OH.
Charles married Mary Ann Kurfis in 1847 or earlier. Mary Ann Kurfis Buckingham was born 24 AUG 1824 in PA (or poss. VA) but was in Fairfield Co., OH by 1830 and grew up there. She was the daughter of George Kurfis (b.1800) and Rebeca A. Unknown (1800- 10 NOV 1857, buried Dovel Cem.)
Charles and Mary Ann were living in Pickerington (Violet Township) Fairfield County, Ohio in 1850. (This is the earliest census I can find for Charles.)
Charles was one of the original trustees at the Taylor Station Church (Jefferson Township, Franklin County) after it was built in 1858.
By 1860 Charles moved to Truro Township, Franklin Co, OH. Stayed there until at least 1870, probably until death.
Children:
William Oliver, b.1848, d. 10 MAY 1923 in Franklin County OH (my great-great-grandfather who operated a lumber yard in Sunbury Ohio adjacent to the house my father grew up in)
Amanda Catherine, (1849-1925) married Charles H. Fishpaw (1843-1930)
Matilda, (1853-1933) married Jacob Stout
George, (1854-1860, buried in Dovel)
Emma, (1856-1860)
Laura, (1858-1910)
Melissa Viola, (1861-1931) married John R. Ewing
Infant Daughter – possibly Catherine (1866-1866, buried in Dovel)
Ella, b.1867
Any info on Charles’ parents or siblings would be much appreciated!
