I am looking for information about the family of John M. Buckles (h/o Margaret A.) from Williamsburg County, SC. I know that he was in the 15th South Carolina Infantry, G. Company, during the Civil War, and in a book about the 15th SC Infantry, his biographical info states that he was born to Jacob Buckles and Mary Smith in 1819. I have a theory that John M.'s last name was originally Buchholtz, or some variation thereof. Anything you can add would be appreciated.
