I doubt very seriously that you will make a connection with William Buckelew to Sir. Walter Scott. Sir Walter Scott is related to the family of the Duke of Buccleuch and I have not been able to find any connection to that family. I have searched the records of the military in Amsterdam and found a number of soldiers by the name of Scott. There is a Buccleuch, but he is a relative of the Duke of Buccleuch in Scotland.
Since we know that Peter Buckelew (1644-1696) married Annetje Fredericx and both of her parents were Dutch and she was baptised at the DRC in Recife, Brazil, my theory is that Peter Buckelew was born in Amsterdam and moved to NA prior to the birth of his son Peter c:1670. Another son of Peter (1644) was Frederick who was born in 1676 and died in <1754 is my direct descendant. All of the children of Frederick followed the custom of naming their childrenafter their parents and were members of the DRC in New Amsterdam/New York. Since Annetje Fredericx moved with her family to NA in 1651, she could not have married Peter Buckelew before that time because she was only 5 years old in 1651.
