Becher is the most common spelling among his descendants, however, Becker, Baker, and a few others have showed up.
I am unsure where he came from. One source says he settled near White Deer Twp. (New Columbia area, Union Co.) about 1818.
Jacob Becher was born Abt. 1795 (I suspect either in Berks or Lancaster Co., PA), and died 27 Nov 1862 in New Columbia, White Deer Twp., Union Co., PA. He married Margaret Charolotte Long on Abt. 1820, daughter of Joseph Long? and Jane.
The 1898 history says that he was from Berks.
I would love to know more on his lineage.
