DNA Uncovers 13 Unique Bucher Lines To Date
Since 2004, we've been testing male Buchers to determine which family lines in America are related, and to prove their connection to their original Bucher ancestors in Germany or Switzerland.
The simple $99 saliva test (by mail) can tell a living male with surname Bucher (or variant spelling) which Bucher ancestor line he is or is not related to. (Read more at http://www.SearchTrees.com/dnahttp://www.SearchTrees.com/dna )
To date, we've tested over 65 males and discovered the following unique and unrelated Bucher lines (see their trees at the website above):
G-001
Peter Bucher d.1794 settled near Fredericksburg, PA (today's Lebanon Co., then Lancaster Co.) DNA testing proved he is related to the Booher families in Sullivan Co. PA derived from a John & Martin Booher of Lancaster Co. PA.
I-001
DNA connected Engel Bucher d.1778 in Lancaster Co. PA to John Beecher b.1757 Adams Co. PA, plus Jacob Bicher b.1758 Lancaster Co. PA. We also believe Henry Buecher d.1795 Adams Co. is part of this line but need a male to test.
I-002
John Bucher (later Baker) b.1775 in PA died in Columbiana Co. OH, married Catherine Mummert.
I-004
Immigrant Hans Martin Bucher b.c.1715 died 1779 in Lancaster Co. PA, DNA proved sons Christian Bucher and others went to Ohio.
Q-001
Bartholomew Bucher b.1717 in Germany d.1792 in Frederick Co. MD spawned the Booher families in Fayette Co. PA and others in OH & IN.
R-002
Johann Ulrich Bucher b.1686 Michelbach, Germany d. 1750 in Frederick Co. VA. His line includes later Booker and Booher families. Surprisingly, DNA shows this line is related to John Beecher (1594-1637) who emigrated from Kent, England to in 1637 to CT (line includes Henry Ward Beecher & Harriett Beecher Stowe).
R-005
Jacob Bucher b.1701 in Bern, Switzerland d. 1760 in PA, married Elizabeth Steffen.
R-006
Rev. John Conrad Bucher b. 1730 in Switzerland d. 1780 in Lebanon Co. PA, many early descendants in Dauphin Co. and Cumberland Co. PA
R-007
Nicholas Bucher b.1670 Switzerland d. 1765 in York Co. PA. DNA proved he is also related to Adam Bucher b.1767 in Adams Co. but not to many others as falsely reported in online trees.
R-008
Hans Bucher b.1681 in Switzerland d.1762 in Cocalico Township, Lancaster Co. PA, son Benedict.
R-009
Wilhelm Bucher b.1683 in Switzerland
R-013
Jakob Bucher b.1851 in Schuphen, Switzerland married Rosette Moser.
R-014
John Vincent Bucher b.1894 in Albany, NY d. 1973 married Mary Henrietta Sheehan
Our research group will pay the testing cost for any male who is related to the two remaining 1700's Bucher lines we haven't yet tested: Dietrich Bucher b.1709 of Montgomery Co. PA who married Maria Sophia Zuri, and Casper Bucher b.1733 of Dauphin Co. who married Catherine Wannamacher.
