Mystery solved! The father of Jacob Bucher b.1758 is recorded in his 11 Apr 1779 marriage record at Christ Lutheran Church in Stouchsburg, Berks County. Jacob married Anna Maria Catarina (Catherine) Heckedorn (nee Haman) who was widowed from Johannes Heckedorn and the daughter of Baltzar Haman.
The record shows Jacob's father was Engelbracht Bucher. He is believed to be the Johan Engel Bucher who arrived on 9/24/1751 on the ship Neptune from Rotterdam. We are seeking any further information about Engel Bucher of Berks.
We have complete descending information on Jacob Bucher b.1758 which we will share with any Bucher researchers. He lived in Lebanon for his entire life and his children were christened there at Salem Lutheran Church. His obituary appeared in the Lebanon Courier on 2 Mar 1842. One of his sons remained in Lebanon as the Bichers who are found through the 1800's in the Salem Lutheran christening records. His other son's descendants removed to Schuykill County and by the Civil War had become the various Beacher families in the Pottsville / Shenandoah areas.
