Chester Buchanan, 70, 1126 East Erwin Road, Apt. 20, Erwin,
Unicoi Co TN, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at the
Johnson City Medical Center, Washington Co, TN, following
a brief illness.
Mr. Buchanan was a native of Yancey Co NC, where he
resided until moving to Erwin thirty years ago.
He was the son of the late Jane Buchanan.
Mr. Buchanan was a former employee of Crystal Cleaners and
Ice, Erwin, and Gordon’s Furniture, Johnson City.
He was of the Free Will Baptist faith and formerly
attended Riverview Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Buchanan was preceded in
death by his grandmother, Lydia Buchanan; and a special
aunt, Cindy Tipton.
He is survived by several cousins, including Howard
Buchanan and wife Louise, Erwin, TN; an aunt, Lassie
Buchanan, Unicoi, TN; and and uncle, Haru Holloway, Erwin,
TN.
The graveside service will be held Friday, October 23,
2009, at 4 p.m., in Evergreen Cemetery with the Reverend
Kevin Laws officiating. Cousins and friends will serve as
pallbearers. Family, minister, pallbearers and friends are
requested to meet at the cemetery by 3:45 p.m., Friday.
