Your speculation about the Kentucky warrant seems correct, though those serving in the Virginia Continental Line were'nt the only ones to get land warrants.
I don't know the date of John's death; the only other details I can add are that he was b. 1732 in Nottingham Twp., Chester , PA and 1 of 8 children b. to James & Martha Allison Buchanan. This James was a member of an immigrant family from Ireland.
