I believe this John Buchanan to be the one b. 1732 in PA. He actually achieved the rank of Captain later. He died in Saltville, Wythe (formerly Augusta County), VA. I'm very familiar with that town. He had one known son, James, who was b. abt 1759 and lived mostly in Augusta and Wythe Counties, Virginia. James had a dau., Mary Jane Buchanan, b. abt 1799.
