Thomas Buchanan married Elizabeth Newton, daughter of Ebenezer Newton (for whom Newton, NC is named). They settled in Lincoln County--now Gaston County--NC near present-day Belmont and moved from there to the area of Cleveland County between Polkville and Casar. At that time, it was Rutherford County. Their son, Colonel Jonas Buchanan (Colonel may be either a given name or a nickname) married Peggy Bryant, the daughter of Augustus Bryant of Bryant Plantation at Clover, SC, and they moved to Missouri. After bearing two children, she died before 1840. Jonas remarried, but had no more children and died at a relatively young age. Do you have any additional information on Thomas' parents and/or children?
