Thank you for the information. I noticed that you referenced a book by John A. Blakemore....."BUCHANAN A Genealogical History, by John A. Blakeman, 1978 , Quality Printers,Inc., Bristol, Virginia, page 228". I managed to find this book and on page 308, I found.....
"Buchanan,Samuel...s. Alexander Buchanan and _____ _____ Buchanan. m. Martha Edmiston? All the information that I have been able to find strongly indicates that he was a son of Alexander Buchanan and a brother of James and Archibald. There are a number of references from different individuals which indicate that he may have been a brother of Alexander. His birth date and death date strongly indicate the relationship in which I am placing him. He moved to Augusta County and settled near Old Providence Church. Had a number of children. He was tied closely to the Edmiston family and moved from Augusta County to what is known as the Lodi Section of Washington County, Va. between the Middle and South Fork of Holston River. Some of his descendants are living in Washington County and many moved to Tennessee and then westward. He was the head of what is known as the South Fork Buchanans. I have accumulated records of more of his descendants than I have been able to find of the descendants of James Buchanan which are listed herein. I have hopes of preparing a record of the descendants of this said Samuel Buchanan and his wife, Martha Edmiston, and am, therefore, not including any of his descendants in this treatise."
Do you (or anyone reading this) know if this other book was ever completed and, if so, where I could find a copy?
