Thanks for the response. It appears I have one too many Samuel's. Why am I not surprised? lol John Brown's parents, Samuel and Elizabeth are correct. That’s good to know. Now, his grandfather was Samuel, also, and grandmother was Martha Keys or Edmiston/Edmonson with no proven ancestors before them. There weren't two separate Samuel’s married to two separate Martha's, as I keep finding. That makes more sense. Thanks for that clarification, as well. It would have been nice if people had and used middle names back then. But where's the challenge in that? lol

Now, please help me to understand where the connection might be with the PA Buchanan’s. Were you saying that Matthew Buchanan might have been a brother to my Samuel Sr. who was married to Martha? I thought my branch came from VA. I show John Brown as having been born in Augusta County, Virginia and that his father, Samuel was also born in Virginia. Do you think they came from PA to VA?

I would like to know more about this Samuel Sr. and Matthew Buchanan also.
