John Buchanan and Mattie Williams, child out of wedlock in Greene County, AR

Looking for information to prove or disprove that John Buchanan b ca 1882 in Mississippi was the father of Lela Margaret Lenderman nee Buchanan. Lela Buchanan is listed in the 1910 census of Greene County, Arkansas as the step-daughter of Levi Lenderman. Family lore is that Mattie Williams had an illegiment child fathered by a Buchanan who was employed in the grocery business. John Buchanan is the only Buchanan listed in the 1900, 1910 and 1920 censuses of Greene County, Arkansas enumerated as being involved in the grocery business. Any help would be most appreciated.
