I don't know if we have a connection, but I found your message interesting because of the history I have been reading. My 5th Gr-grandfather was Johannes George Buch/Book (I've found this name spelled many ways, but usually Buch, and finally Book)He supposedly came to New Jersey from the Wurttemberg area of Germany in the 1750's.He reportedly had 3 wives: 1) Mesinger/Misenor 2) Chatter and 3) Christianna Metzger, my 5th Gr-Grandmother.Johannes had older sons born in Germany, who settled in Ontario, Canada, some may have followed the Anglican Church. My fourth great-grandfather, George Book, and his sisters were born in New Jersey.Their mother Christianna Metzger followed the Lutheran, and later Evangelical Lutheran Churches. As a child, I remember hearing the term "Black Dutch", but I don't remember the context in which it was used. My Book family all had very dark eyes and hair.I have seen the term "Black Dutch" referred to as many things, including:1.People from the Black Forest area of Germany 2.Those who spoke the so-called lower german dialects 3. Thoses Germans with dark features and 4. Any number of mixed nationality descendants, including Jewish and German. To my knowledge, our family was German, but in the past, I have had people ask if we were Jewish.I've read alttle history about the Jewish people living in the area of France, being persecuted and moving into Spain (the Sephardic?). Then during the inquisition, moving into Portugal, and when persecuted there, moving into the area of Germany. Perhaps there is no connection, but I was very curious when I saw your name BUCH with a connection to Spain and Germany.
