Hello Linda,
I just got some info on my gggrandmother Mary Howell who married Joshua Minton. It seems that her maiden name was Mary Buce. born 1802 in Ga and died in Ala. Her parents were John Buce sr. born 1780 in N.C. and died in1855 in Tallapoosa co. Al and her mother was Rutha Smith. Rutha's parents were Capt. William Smith and Celia? He died on Oct 20 1849 in Tallapoosa. Rutha's siblings were Sarah, Celia, James, Thomas, Mary and Nicholas.
Could these people be the family you were talking about?
It has taken about 20 years to finally get Mary Howells maiden name.
