Thank you so much for your reply. Additional information for you...James Kitchen (Kitching) died January 17, 1762 (Will Book I, page 437, Southampton County, Virginia.) He was married twice, to Martha Mathews until her death in 1757 and then to Elizabeth (possibly a Joyner). James had 12 children. James left to his son Benjamin "the plantation called Bryants". There are other land records indicating that James, and his son Benjamin, as well as other Kitchen family members, purchased land in Southampton County, some along the Nottoway River. There are also birth and death records for the family in this area. This all makes me think that the Bryants Plantation home you mentioned could be the Bryants Plantation mentioned in James' will. Our family does include the Bryant name but not until 125 years later...but who knows maybe there was some earlier connections perhaps through James Kitchen's wife (either Elizabeth or Martha) or through some other branch of his family.

Do you know if there is a local historical society or genealogy society in Boykins? Maybe that would be a source of more information for us?? I will give it some thought.

In addition, would you have an address, street name or the like for Bryants Plantation home? (If there is any way I can get a copy of the photo you mentioned that would be fantastic too :-)

Thanks again and I will look for your next post!
