All serious Bryant family genealogical researchers know that erroneous information abounds regarding our esteemed John Bryant ancestral family! You may bank on this information. For clarification purposes, I wish to present it loud and clear especially for proud descendants of our ancestors, John (ca. 1760-ca. 1841) and Elizabeth Bryant (ca. 1766-ca. 1854).
The parentage of John and Elizabeth Bryant is unknown. The maiden name of Elizabeth is unknown. Any descendants of John and Elizabeth Bryant who have credible documentation regarding the parentage of John and Elizabeth Bryant, please present it. If any descendants of John and Elizabeth Bryant have credible documentation regarding the maiden name of Elizabeth Bryant, please present it. Until documented, we should all be on the same page: John and Elizabeth Bryant's parentage is unknown. Elizabeth Bryant's maiden name is unknown. I hope this message is clear to everyone concerned. Our Bryant family genealogy does not need to be clouded with fiction!
A marriage record cannot be found in Lincoln County, Kentucky for the marriage of John Bryant and Elizabeth Hardin! It is folly for any descendant of John and Elizabeth Bryant to perpetuate this undocumented information. If anyoune can produce documentation of such a marriage; please provide the information.
Also, I am a descendant of Daniel Bryant (ca. 1803-ca. 1891); son of John and Elizabeth Bryant. My ancestor, Daniel Bryant, does not need to be renamed. No documentation can be found that he ever had a middle initial or a middle name. Please do not rename my revered ancestor, Daniel Bryant! For those of you who have any other name for my ancestor, please amend your records!
Most of us know that the Bryant name in Adair County, Kentucky is spelled BRYANT. Briant is an erroneous or variant spelling. I would guess that most of the Bryants in Adair County, Kentucky today are descendants of John and Elizabeth Bryant!
I hope this informaiton is helpful to all descendants of my ancestors, John ane Elizabeth Bryant. And yes, the Bryant Cemetery, located near Russell Creek, Adair County; does have the graves of John Bryant, Elizabeth Bryant, Daniel Bryant, Lucilla Smith Bryant (ca. 1806-after 1882), and family members. This Bryant Cemetery is located on the ancestral John Bryant farm; presently owned by members of the Paul Dickens family. It is my understanding that the farm is now leased by Mr. Vincent Pfefferman, who knows the precise location of the Bryant Cemetery. Be advised, Adair County also has more Bryant Cemeteries.
And finally, I wish to invite all descendants of my ancestors, John and Elizabeth Bryant, to our Bryant Family Group Site, sponsored by Ancestry.com --Just send me your email address and information about your lineage, and I shall formally invite you to our website. Our site is like a family reunion online! My third cousin, Deland Lewis Bryant; and my foruth cousin, Michael Eugene Bryant, have both participated in DNA testing. I am very proud of their participation. We are all hopeful that the results of their DNA testing will further enhance our genealogical knowledge. May God richly bless all members of our Bryant family always.
