Bryans of South Carolina

I am a direct descendant of Dr. Fortunatus Bryan (b. 1775 Albemarle co, VA, d. 1821 Barnwell, SC), whose wife was Elizabeth G Dupont, daughter of Josiah Dupont of the Charleston area who was described as a planter. Josiah was listed by the British as a traitor (i.e. fighter for independence) in 1778 Savannah along with another very prominent South Carolina-Georgia plantation owner Jonathon Bryan.

Does anyone know what if any connection there was between Fortunatus Bryan and Jonathon Bryan?
