There has already been discussion concerning this matter, but Lord Guy Bryan died without a male heir and as a result of this the barony died with him.

This being the case the line stopped with him. If this were not so, the barony would have passed to his son and so on and would still be continuing to this day. Have a look at:

http://web.ukonline.co.uk/ewh.bryan/Bryan-5.html.

You will see here he died with male heirs as one son died before him, leaving a daughter and two other sons died without issue. I don't believe that he died in Tewkesbury Abbey. That is where he is said to have been interred.

With regard to Sir Francis Bryan, have a look at the extract that I copied from a book in my local library about him. It is at:

http://web.ukonline.co.uk/ewh.bryan/Bryan-11.html

There is no mention there of him having produced a son with his very short marriage with Joan Fitzgerald. I appreciate that this does not necessarily prove that there was no son, but I have yet to see any proof that a son was born and I have even seen mention from other sources that agree with me that he had no children by her.

Sir Francis Bryan is not in my ancestry, but Lord Guy Bryan was said to have been. I grew up in the belief that I am descended from Sir Guy de Bryan but I have proved to myself that this is unfortunately not true. One option, which has been raised here recently is that we could all be descended from a younger brother from one of the earlier Guy Bryans. I never had the heart to tell my elderly father.

A pedigree that was produced for my great great grandfather shows a line of descent from Sir Guy Lord Bryan, but it goes through his daughter through several families until my great great grandfather (Revd. Guy Bryan) married a female descended from Sir Guy Lord Bryan. ???

It is at:

Sorry to upset the apple cart, but I'm interested in trying to get as close to the truth as possible. I appreciate that this is nigh on impossible, but.....
