Kim, You have me mistaken for Guy N. Bryan http://www.irishclans.com/cgi-bin/iclans.cgi/clanpage/site/goti/iclans?alias=e928410991&fieldnum=f928411082&filename=/wwwd/goti/iclans/Sept%20of%20the%20Knight%20de%20Bryan.e928410991.societypage.noidx I am lovingly referred to as the "Devil's Advocate" by the Sept of the Knight de Bryan. Early on in my genealogical studies I was rather scathing in my comments I made on their Message Board, which I don't think exists anymore. I was told not to post any more messages there. Then I came to find this forum and started posting on it. This eventually drew out both Guy N. Bryan and Charles Abraham Bryant for a showdown on the origin of the de Bryan family. Mr. Abraham did not think I had the information that I told him I had that disproved the previously theorized lineal descent of the de Bryan family from the de Brienne line. He therefore thought he could post volumes of information that was interesting but yet did not prove anything and that by posting this information he would indeed be looked at as a superior historian and more credible than I. He was wrong. I was originally misguided as many have been about the origin of the Bryans due to the perpetuation of a myth. I have since learned so much more that is correct about the Bryan family. I have taken the chip off my shoulder rather than have it knocked off and have learned so much from folks on the forum. But the perpetuation of the false myth still continues through bombardment of it upon various websites. Hopefully someday those individuals will see that the truth is more valuable than perpetuation of the unproved that satisfies an ego, sells books, or sells memberships to an order of knighthood.
