Mary Ellen, you don't say where in Ohio your John Bryan lived or when. But did you know that there is a John Bryan State Park near Dayton? It is a lovely park. Part of the old Pittsburg/Indianapolis stagecoach trail remains, following the beautiful river. According to one of the park rangers, this John Bryan was very eccentric. He was a millionaire from inventing the hooks on men's work shoes. The ones where you can just wrap the lace around hooks and not fool with the holes. He wanted to build the worlds largest barn, so he contacted all of the European heads of state and asked them how large their country's largest barn was and then -built one larger than any of theirs! The barn is gone but the foundation remains. He willed his property to the state of Ohio to be used as a park but the state refused to accept it! This was because they had to agree that absolutely no religious services would ever be held there. It took several years but they were finally able to work around this and accepted this wonderful piece of land. The ranger said that he had found most of his info at the local library. I don't know if this is your John but he was a BRYAN!
