Hi Brian Some of the neighbors to your Joseph Bruton family are my folks (Baker, Cole, Davis, Burns, Judkins) so I thought I'd drop by and introduce some of them. 1870 Nacogdoches TX census Douglass Post Office, Page 481 Household 292/292 Brudan Joseph H,45,M,W,Farmer,1000,700,TN Mary E,40,F,W,Keeping house,TN Mattie,17,F,W,at home,TN Jocella,14,F,W,at home,TX Jesse T,12,M,W,TX Mayfield Needham,13,M,W,Farmer,TX Armstead Georganne,13,M,B,Cook,TX The Brutons are living next to John R. and Elizabeth Burns who came from Old Tishomingo County MS to Texas in about 1852. These Burns are associated with the Josiah and Sarah Wallis family of Lawrence County TN, Tishomingo County MS, and Tippah County MS. Elizabeth Burn's maiden name is said by some to have been Mayfield (I haven't seen proof). There is a Needham Mayfield (I believe his full name was Needham Quarles Mayfield) living with the Bruton family. The William J. and Sarah Ann Davis who are near the Brutons also came to Texas from Mississippi around 1852. They may have been married in 1848 in Marengo County AL. Sarah Ann Davis's maiden name was Mayfield. The Baker neighbors came to Texas from Old Tishomingo County MS (present day Prentiss County) some time in the 1860's. Like the Burns, they are also associated with the Josiah and Sarah Wallis family of Lawrence TN and Old Tishomingo MS. Notify Administrator about this message?
