Emma Belle Brush (nee Beard) 1872 - 1963
Emma Belle Beard m. Seymour I. Brush of Covelo, Mendocino Co. CA, and after his death, married "Unk" Phillips.Since she is generally not known by her final married name, I am providing her obit from the Chico Enterprise-Record of September 27, 1963 as follows:
Emma Belle Phillips
Mrs. Emma Belle Phillips, who had made her home in Chico since 1921, died in an Oroville hospital early this morning.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Covelo on Jan. 17, 1872, and had remained there until moving to Chico in 1921 where she established her home.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chico.
Survivors include the following children—Mrs. Frances Conner, Mrs. Nora Mulkey and Mrs. Doris Burns and George Brush, all of Chico; Mrs. Berth Erwin, Mrs. Charlotte Elliot, Mrs. Marjorie Kolar and Clarence Brush, all of Richmond; Mrs. Zelda Stone of Fort Bragg; Lester Brush of San Francisco; Mrs. Artie Begley of Petaluma; Mrs. Jennie Brightenstine of Eureka; and Mrs. Clara Kappler of Bellflower; 56 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren, and 42 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home Monday at 11 a.m. and interment will take place in the Covelo Cemetary.

My wife, Virginia L. Dunham (nee Burns) is the daughter of Doris Burns listed among the survivors of Emma Belle.
