Hi John you won't believe this but I have just found your follow up on the Brunton site. I haven't visited the site for a long time. I have seen the Brunton's with the unusual names which I believed were the maiden names of either their mothers or maternal grandparents. We also have a few like that in our side like Dryden Trotter ( his mother was Jane Dryden) I would love any info you have as like yourself I'm sure there is a link. Lowden Brunton b. 1812 was a builder / stone mason and his son Lowden b.1841 was a marine engine fitter. His son Robert (my grandfather) was a cheif engineer on ships so there is definately the ship connection. I have been unable to trace Lowdens (1912) birth so have been stumped for some time. He married Eliza Smith Trotter in 1835 and I believe he was born in Bishopwearmouth but Monkwearmouth and Southwick all come into the tree at various times. Hope you get this message ok and so sorry it's taken so long to reply bye for now June.
