GEORGE J. BRUNS
June 5, 1905
The death of George J. Bruns , of Charlotte township, which occurred at ten-thirty o'clock on Wednesday morning at this late home, was a great shock and surprise to many of the friends of his family, as the fact that his condition was critical had not become generally known. An operation was performed on Saturday last by Drs. Carson, of Chatsworth; Pressler, of Cullom, and Ross, of Kempton, and he was again operated upon on Wednesday by Drs. Carson, Pressler and Dr. Hart, of Bloomington, but all efforts to relieve the malady, stoppage of the bowel, proved futile.
George J. Bruns was born February 2, 1863, in Charlotte township, where he had always made his home. He was a son of John G. Bruns, one of the early residents of the township, who still survives, and is one of the most highly respected German citizens of this community.
Besides his father, three brothers and two sisters, deceased is survived by his bereaved wife, formerly Gratje (sic) Schipper, one son, five daughters and a large circle of friends.
The funeral took place this (Friday) afternoon, leaving the house at noon, thence to the Evangelical church at Charlotte, where services were held at one o'clock; interment at the Chatsworth cemetery.
