MARIAN,
My father had a cousin named Ernst Brunner, He was born around late 1800 or early 1900. My father was born 1900. Ernst was the son grand son of my gggfather Karl Brunner. We also have a Josph Brunner, ha was my father's brother born in 1896.
It doesn't sound like your Ernst is connected to our Brunners, even so due to the same names it is possible that way back he was related to us since many times the same names were repeated, because relatives would be "godfathers" and they took the same name.
Unfortunately, I have only the direct line of those who inherited our homestead,
usually the oldest son, but in my father's case, he was the youngest of a large family, since the older ones all had gone off and learned a trade.
Good luck, Gerdy
