George Brunner born in Nauvoo, PA married Emma Ellis (1855-1910)of Tioga PA around 1870. They lived in Tioga and he worked in the mines in Arnot PA, walking from Tioga to Arnot on Sunday, spending the week in Arnot and walking home to Tioga on Friday night. They had three children, William, Phoebe and Laura May. One Sunday he went to work and did not return the next Friday. He never reappeared and Emma eventually had him declared legally dead and married Charles Cooley and had four more children. There were "family rumors" that he was seen in Florida/"the South" with a traveling circus. If anyone knows anything about a George Brunner that might fit into this story, please contact me.
