I find myself a descendant of Judith Brundage [1767/8- 1852] & Jacobus "James" Jordan [1761-1846], both originally of NY. They are my GGGG-grandparents. It has been speculated that Judith might have been the daughter of Nathaniel Sr and sister to Nathaniel Jr Brundage. Has anyone resolved the lineage issue or have more data on the NY & New Brunswick Brundage families? My James Jordan came to New Brunswick in 1783 on Ship CYRUS with no wife nor children. Judith Brundage in the 1851 census said she came with the Loyalists in 1783 but no ship or specific date given. James was born 2/8/1761 Sleepy Hollow, Westchester co, Long Island, NY. Loyalist website gives his death as 1846. Judith born Dec 1767/8 in either Westchester co or Dutchess co, NY along the Hudson River. She died St John, NB 6/9/1852 aged 84. Daughter Sarah Jordan, perhaps the 2nd child, was born in 5/29/1787 probably in New Brunswick. IF James emigrated to NB without a family, he may have married there after 1783. But he and Judith could have married in NY and come seperately, or she may have been missed on the CYRUS passenger list, as there is no Judith of any surname, found on it. The multiple spellings of the Surname Brundage, Brundige, Brundish, etc certaily doesn't help sort this family out. I have info that Judith was a definately a descendant of American immigrant John I Brundage of Rattlesden, England. Her line might this go John II, Daniel, Benjamin, Daniel, Nathaniel Sr, Judith & Nathaniel Jr. I would love to hear your insights. As group collaborators we may be able to figure this family out.
