VERONICA E. BRUN, 93
NEW BEDFORD -- Veronica "Vonnie" Elizabeth (BARTON) BRUN, 93, of New Bedford died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Leo A. BRUN.
A lifelong New Bedford resident, the daughter of the late John J. and Ellen (HUNT) BARTON, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Mrs. BRUN previously worked at Firestone and the Acushnet Co. rubber division, and retired from Continental Elastic Co. as an assembler.
She was a member, charter member and one of the 21 founders of the Happy Group.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed bowling, watching baseball and playing bingo.
Survivors include a brother, Charles BARTON of New Bedford; two nieces who cared for her, Dorothy Brunelle and Rita Cote, both of New Bedford; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was the stepmother of the late Normand BRUN and Paul BRUN, and the sister of the late John BARTON, William BARTON, Henry BARTON, James BARTON, Ellen BETTENCOURT and Dorothy GIBBS.
Her funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.
