....Need help on my James Brumfield, Sr.( ? -c1800) Stoney Creek & Giles Co., VA; married to Mary ? . Children; Humphrey; Celly; Louisa; James, Jr.; Fanny; Joel; Sarah; Micajah; Mary.
Does he relate to the 4 James theory that every one seems to accept and if so where?? Is the 4 James theory taking into account that the first James Brumfield to VA came with Capt. John Smith in 1606 and was one of the four "boyes" estimated to be around fourteen years old? Does anyone have this James getting married or returning to England? He is not mentioned as dying during the"dying time" at Jamestown nor is he mentioned again that I have found(except the 1607 census). He could be the father of JAMES #1 that is said to have been born c1647 but then that leaves us with a 5 James theory. This has bothered me for sometime! Anyone heard of the Brumfield-Lacoste Co. or the Brumfield holdings in Bermuda in 1626? Has anyone made a stab at the first James' parents? The Brumfields were big in the Virginia Company; read the company minutes (about all that is left of good records). They were probably investors and that gentleman is possibly James #1's father, grandfather, uncle, etc. Just before this time the Lord-mayor of London was a Bromfield. I hope this fires up a dialogue on this because I have been nagged by this for some years but too busy on other lines to agonize too much over it> My descent is MY James Sr (above); Humphrey: John; James; Rufus B.; James Theodore; Georgia Brumfield Koerper. Hope to hear from all of you cousins. Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance, Phil
