Something else to keep in mind when looking at census records -- they often would include anyone that is living in the house as family and spelled the names the way they sounded instead of the actual names. Sometimes you'll see a nickname used instead of a real name -- such as "Sis" or "Lum" (short for Columbus). Often a sister is listed as the mother, etc. I'm not sure why they were so sloppy. Sometimes if a mother has passed, the oldest sister living in the house was listed as the mother. Just thought I'd pass that on to you. The other thing is you can go to findagrave.com and get names and dates from cemeteries that have been cataloged. Again, dates and names are sometimes in error. Some dates on the headstones will be the burial date instead of the date of death. When looking at a death certificate, the date of birth is sometimes incorrect either due to mistyping or incorrect information. Best to look at a birth record in the county ledger for that. The date of death on a death certificate is usually very reliable. Death certificates also will give you the parents names and the spouse's name, if known. That is very helpful. Well enough for now. I have a lot to do. Have a good day and enjoy shaking the family tree.
