I have only been checking about once every six months so it has taken a while to respond to your message. Here goes:
James Bruhn was my great-grandfather.His father was Herman Bruhn who emigrated to the US about 1872 from the Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.I do not have the name of Herman's wife.James was born in 1864.He had four sisters: Dora (Mrs. Rudolph LaFrentz) born 1866, Margaret (Mrs. Jacob LaFrantz) born 1869, Emma (Mrs. Julius Muhl) born 1872, and Minnie (Mrs. Gustave Muhl) born 1875.James married Meta LaFrentz in 1887 in Crawford county, Iowa.[Note: Meta and Rudolph LaFrentz were siblings as were Julius and Gustave Muhl]The elder Herman Bruhn livedin southeast Iowa (Scott county) as did Emma and Minnie (Toronto, Iowa).Dora/Rudolph, James/Meta, and Maggie/Jacob all, for a time, lived in western Iowa (Crawford/Ida counties).Maggie/Jacob then moved to northern Montana where they lived out their lives.Dora/Rudolph and James/Meta both moved to Bloomfield, Knox county, Nebraska at the same time and lived out their lives there.[I have found no John Bruhn in our side of the family.]Hope this is helpful.
