Hi Sam,

According to the info that I have, my 5G grandparents were Adam BROYLES b. abt. 1728 Spotsylvania, Spotsylvania Co., VA, d. Apr 1782 Washington Co., TN & Mary _____ b. aft. 173, d. bef. 1782 Washington Co., TN. I show the following children:

1. Joshua BROYLES b. abt. 1772 Culpepper Co., VA

2. Mary BROYLES b. 23 Jan 1776 Culpepper Co., VA, d. aft. 1850 Farmersville, Collin Co., TX, marr. abt. 1790 in Washington Co., TN to William Alfred GOTCHER Sr. b. abt. 1773 Franklin Co., TN, d. 1820 Fayette Co., AL (my 4G grandparents)

I have been reading, with interest, the messages about Adam's lineage. This was my first inkling that he was of German extraction. Adam & his daughter Mary BROYLES are on my mother's side of the family.
This all very interesting to me because I am of German descent on my father's side also. The HAUPT family of Windesheim, Prussia that settled in PA is on my father's side.

Fred Downs
