DANIEL BROYLES [son of Samuel Thomas Broyles and Phebe Broyles - Fifth Generation]
Daniel Broyles was b.c. 1794 TN and d. > 1850, probably Parke Co., IN) He married 1]Millie Broyles (the mother of his children) July 9, 1816 in Mercer Co., KY., and 2]Margaret Gwinn in Parke Co., IN on Sept 9, 1842. Millie Broyles is unidentified but Michael Broyles, son of John of Jacob, stood security for her at her marriage. SLB in 1995 is more than firmly convinced that Millie was a younger sister to Michael or a
daughter. Since Michael and his first wife married 1793 but their first son, William, was not born until 1796, it is possible that Millie was a first born daughter. Michael also had a sister, Mildred, after whom Michael might have named his first-born daughter. Millie's first-born son was
named Michael. Daniel Broyles noted as from Hendricks Co., IN, purchased land in Howard Township, Parke Co., IN Oct 1832 and Jan
1835.

MICHAEL BROYLES (60) [son of John Broyles (11)] (b. 1771 Culpeper Co., VA;d. June 6, 1872 Parke Co., IN) He is first mentioned on the Culpeper Co., VA tax lists, 1785, as the orphan of John Broyles. He married 1]Elizabeth Blankenbaker (b. Jun 9, 1775 Madison, VA) Oct 14, 1793 (lic.) Madison Co., VA, William Carpenter, minister, and 2]Nancy Welch (b. 1799 KY;d. June 21, 1870 IN) Oct 4, 1838 in Parke Co., IN. On Oct 15, 1792, Ben Myrtle and wife Francis sold to
Michael Broyles of Culpeper Co., VA, 46 acres near Turkey Hole. On Sept 24, 1795, Michael Broyle and wife Elizabeth, described as of Culpeper Co., Va, sold to Zachariah Petty 150 acres lying in Culeper and Madison Cos., joining Henry Aylor. From 1795 to 1809, Michael Broyles was taxed for 67 acres in Madison County, VA, although he certainly was in Kentucky as early as 1803. Changes in ownership of land were apparently not always promptly made in those tax lists.
He was a taxable in Lincoln Co., KY 1799. In 1803, he was in Mercer Co., KY and for some years was taxed for 140 acres on Chaplain's Creek in that county. In 1825, his acreage is given as 235. In 1811, he sold to the heirs of William McGinnis and in 1815 he bought at a sheriff's sale land which had been sold to the McGinnis heirs. On Oct 14, 1833, Michael Broyles and wife Elizabeth sold to Alexander Broyles 55 acres on Chaplain's Creek joining John Broyles. About this time he disappears from the Kentucky records and is not heard of again for many years. His will, written May 15, 1849, was probated in Parke Co., IN March,
1853. On June 6, 1872, several of the heirs of Michael Broyles, dec'd, of the state of Indiana (place not given) assign power of attorney to Willis Green Broyles of Mercer Co., Ky., grandson of the above Michael Broyles, to pay them the amounts due from Michael Broyles's estate. Evidently he moved to some part of Indiana and either he or his widow had recently died. One of them must have nearly or quite reached the century mark. {SLB} The 1830 Mercer Co., KY census cites Alexander, Mitchell, John, and Mary, each householders with dependents. Mitchell could not have been William or Michael thus he may be a previously
uncited son of Michael Sr. Mary may be the widow of William.
