Karla:
I am no expert on the family tree, but will tell you what I do know for sure.
I belong to the part of the family from North West Florida.I am the 4th generation to be forn in the Western Panhandle of the state. My son was born in Georgia as I was a career military man.
There are another group in Louisiana and Oregon.Don't know if all or kin or not?
I got an e:mail from a 12 year girl in Ireland that was a Broxson and I answered her as best I could.I can remember as a boy in school always wondering about my last name.To be a simple 7 character name, most people mispronounced it and also misspelled it.I always tell folks at the doctors and such when they are looking for my records "Right after the Browns".
I read somewhere that the name actually has its roots in Scotland and some of those folks immigrated to the US in 1500 or 1600.Can't verify this.It is a good an explanation as any as to our family heritage.
People tend to move for social and economic reasons, either one or both.I am no exception.I married a girl from Alabama and also have found work in Alabama so that is where I live.My uncle lives in Montanna and my son is a lawyer in Washington DC. I have counsins in Ohio and Washington State. So as time goes by, seems like the Broxson family has steadily spread out.
This probably has not answered any of your questions. In fact it probably has created more.
Anyway, keep correcting folks on the spelling and be proud of the family.Best of luck in whatever the future holds for you and yours.
Donald Broxson
