Daily Gazette, Schenectady, 31 Aug 2000, obit extracted. CLIFTON PARK - Peter Rowe Brownson, 71, of Danforth Rd., died at home Wednesday. Born in Boston, Mass., raised in Wakefield, Mass. Graduate of Northeastern Univ., degree in journalism. While in college, he lettered in track and worked for the Boston Globe. Mr. Brownson later worked for Texaco. He founded Brownson Enterprises and became a Mobil dealer on the New York state Thruway in 1974. Named "Man of the Year" by the Gasoline Retailers Association of New York in 1999. Member of the Massachusetts National Guard. Active member in Rotary Club of Clifton Park. Communicant and former Vestryman of St. George's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Christine Vance Brownson; two daughters, Nancy B. Whalen of Ballston Spa and Lisa C. Brownson of Syracuse; a son, Peter M. Brownson of Albany; a sister, Nancy Struble of Butler, N.J.; and four grandchildren. St. George's Episcopal Church, 912 Route 146. Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home.
