I have a John Milton Brownson of Victoria, TX, who may be the father of the John Milton Brownson, Jr. you are researching.
John Milton Brownson, born 12/28/1836, died 1/26/1906, in Victoria County, TX. He served in the CSA, Comapany E, 8th Texas Rangers. He founded the first organized bank in Victoria County in 1867. He was a Presbyterian.
He married Catherine McDow,(listed in the DAR records) born in Sumter County, AL,8/20/1846, and died in Victoria County, TX, 3/12/1932.
Catherine McDow was the daughter of Alexander McDow and Mary Adeline Fleming of Alabama. After Mary Adeline Fleming McDow died, Alexander McDow married Sarah Harriet Thompson Posey, the widow of Dr. Madison Posey. Sarah Harriet Thompson Posey McDow died in LaGrange, TX, and was the sister of my ggggrandfather, Dr. Foster H. Thompson.
I have been mistakenly looking for a John Milton Bronson for weeks, and just today discovered the name was Brownson.
I hope this helps you.
