A 1978 letter from Marjorie Helmsholz states a belief that two brothers migrated from Ireland in the early 1700's to Cumberland Co.,N.C. John stayed there and married first Sarah Council and second Rebecca Evans(b.Sep.23,1752-d.1824) in 1770/1771.They had two children:James (b.1771/1773-d.1815/1820) and Mary (b.1773/1774) This James moved ultimately to Giles Co.,Tn. John's brother James moved to Lexington,Va. and opened a Latin school there. James' wife was Kate but her maiden name was unknown. I am descended from the Giles Co. Brownlows and have a lot of info on them but I know nothing about my Va. cousins and would like to hear from any one who can help.
