We may very well have a connection. I believe my Samuel L. Brownlow, b. 1776, was the father of three children b. 1803/05/09. I find no evidence of him marrying their mother and the children used their mother's maiden name, Cawood. In 1812 Samuel L. Brownlow was taxed in Sullivan Co, TN. In 1814 he served in the War of 1812. He briefly returned to Sullivan County after serving in the War, appointed an attorney in 1816 to receive his pay and then disappeared.

Samuel L. Brownlow had a brother named Isaac, b. about 1783, who also served in the War of 1812. By 1815 Isaac was living in Madison Co, AL and he died in 1831 in Lauderdale Co, AL. Another brother, William, also lived in AL.

Do you know where your Barfields were in TN?
