Family of Nicholas Long & Jane Browning

Nicholas Long was born somewhere in TN. abt. 1812 and he died sometime after the 1860 census either in Limestone Co. AL., or Giles Co. TN. Nicholas Long married Jane Browning on Dec. 30, 1830 according to the Browning family Bible, however, no location is mentioned. Jane Browning is daughter of Nicholas Browning and his first wife, Mary McKinney. Nicholas Long & Jane Browning lived in Limestone County, AL. in 1840, 1850 & 1860. They had 11 children according to the various census: James W., Sarah Jane, Rosanna / Rovinna, Martha L., Alfred Washington, William Henry., Manerva M., Nicholas J., Nathan Green., Daniel F., and Amanda. All children were born in Limestone County, AL. James W. Long was born 1832. He married possibly 3 times: ( 1 ) unknown ( 2 ) Mary Amanda Longshore ( 3 ) Sarah E. Howell. James W. Long & Unknown spouse had 1 child, Wesley J. Long born 1858 Limestone Co. AL. Sarah Jane Long was born 1835 & died after 1880 census. She married James Moore in Giles Co. Tn. Dec. 19, 1855, son of Thomas Moore & Elizabeth. Sarah Jane Long & James Moore had 6 children: Francis Marion, Thomas, Virginia, Coleman, William Henry, & Alfred. Alfred Washington Long was born 1843 and died 1943, he married Mary Hughes Goodman April 3, 1866 in Limestone Co. AL. William Henry Long was June 1846 and died Sept. 1924. He married twice ( 1 ) Rebecca A. Howell in Giles Co. Tn. on July 2, 1865, daughter of John Alex Howell and Eliza. Marriage number 2 was to Louisa Caroline Marbut on Aug. 19, 1869 in Limestone County, AL. daughter of John Marbut and Anna Thomas. William Henry Long & Louisa caroline Marbut had 2 son's: William Henry Jr., born March 28, 1873 and Dempsey born March 2, 1877, both were born in Giles Co. TN. Nicholas J. Long was born 1852 and died Oct. 1888, he married Sara "Sarery Ann" Jane Howell in Limestone Co. AL. on Jan. 14, 1869, daughter of John Alex Howell and Eliza. Nicholas J. Long & Sara Howell had 9 children, most were born between Giles Co. TN. & Limestone Co. AL. Caroline M., George Washington, Amanda Jane, Dewitt, Ezra , Thomas H., Dora, Presley and Wesley E. Nathan Green Long was born Oct. 1854 and he died July 14, 1914, married Rebecca Longshore in Limestone County, AL. on Sept. 5, 1876, daughter of John Longshore & Kissirah Wright. Nathan Green Long & Rebecca Longshore had 6 children: James Henry, Manerva Ann, Walter Wright, Nathan Gipson, Minnie Lee, and Thomas Melvin. Daniel F. Long was born May 27, 1857, and died May 23, 1936, married sarah Jane Johnson in Giles Co. TN. on Oct. 15, 1881, daughter of Andrew Johnson & Mary Ann. Daniel F. Long and Sarah Jane Johnson had 4 children, all born in Giles Co. TN. Ezra , Wesley Daniel, William G., and Wilson. Amanda Long was born 1861 and she died 1943. She had 1 son, Thomas Long who was born in Giles Co. Tn. on March 1883 and died in 1910, he married Mollie Jones in Limestone Co. AL. on June 22, 1902, daughter of Joseph E. "Jody" Jones and Susan Appleton. Thomas Long & Mollie Jones had 2 daughters: Nora Mae Long born April 26, 1906 and Corine Long born 1909.
