Harbert for 3 year term CO. I - 6 regiment U.S. colored Heavy artillery (Union) I found a John Rochester who enlisted same day same place, same Co. and Regiment so likely a brother. John died Sept. 4, 1865 in hospital in Natchez I also found Muster Rolls for both of them: nothing too exciting to find there except for Muster out date of May 13, 1866 for William when he received $27.16 for clothing John's muster roll for July/Aug. 1865 shows him absent and in hospital Muster roll for Sept./Oct. 1865 shows he died Sept. 4, 1865 In other record both are shown as listed on African American Civil War Memorial - plaque A-16 for both U.S. army grave sites shows William Rochester PVT U.S. Army, enlisted Dec. 8, 1863 Died: Oct. 22, 1938 Buried: Oct. 25, 1938 Buried: Natchez National cemetery, Section A, site: 3680 41 Cemetery Rd.
