William and Julia Browning were my maternal grandparents:
William: 11/17/1894 - 5/5/1951; buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville TN. He died of some form of kidney disease, I believe. He was a soldier in WWI; I've got a faded photocopy of his Army discharge paper, showing service from 7/31/1918 to 8/31/1919. He was a long-time manager of the Kress store in downtown Nashville TN. He and his wife Julia had four children (see below). They moved around to many different addresses in Nashville, including Fatherland Street in East Nashville. At the time of his death, when I was a little baby, the family lived in a big house on Franklin Road, south of Woodmont Blvd. That house is still standing.
Julia Brubaker Browning: 3/4/1898 - 11/12/1975; there is a marker for her next to William in Woodlawn Cemetery, but she donated her body to some hospital. She was a central character, so to speak, of my childhood in Nashville TN.
William and Julia had four children in a short span of years:
1. Eleanor (my mother): 4/25/1920 - 10/6/2006. She had two sons.
2. Norma: 12/25/1921(?) - ???? Norma is deceased; she had two daughters.
3. William Jr.: 7/29/1923(?) - ???? Bill is deceased; he had two daughters.
3. David: 9/30/1925(?) - ???? David is deceased; he had no children.
I do not have very much factual information about genealogical matters concerning these people. However, on request, I could email scanned photos of William and Julia if you provide an email address.
