Hi Evelyn,
I'm always thrilled to learn more about this elusive family, so I appreciate your writing.Regarding the Joshua who married MALINDA ROBERTSON: I have him in my file because he was a BROWNING in Johnson County, IL. The 1870 Census shows him as being born ca 1835. I don't have him connected to a family.
I do have another JOSHUA (possibly with the initial "N") BROWNING listed. He also (according to the 1850 Census) was born ca 1835.But, I don't have him listed as a son of ISAAC C. BROWNING, but his nephew, andson of PRESTON BROWNING (Isaac's brother). I don't have a spouse listed for him. I suspect these two JOSHUA's are one in the same, but I don't have proof of that.
I will be glad to email you more detailed info. Do you have a source that says that JOSHUA was ISAAC's son? (ISAAC and PRESTON also had a brother named JOSHUA and one named JONATHAN).
** Back to the JOSHUA BROWNING who married MARY MALINDA ROBERTSON ~ (I have her name listed as Robinson).
