NY State Department of Health has 1881 and later Death Records which generally show when and where the subjects were buried. You can obtain an application on-line ....
http://www.health.state.ny.us./vital_records/forms/doh-4384.pdf .... fill-in known data, and have them do a three year span search for his record for a fee of about $25. If they do not find his record within the three-year span you state, you need to re-apply for na different time span.
