In the 1860 census, there are two James Browns in Cherokee County, Alabama. One lives next door to William Gardner & Barilla (Brown) Gardner. The other James Brown was born 1790 in Georgia.

The 1870 census has William & Barilla Gardner with a young girl named Chester Brown, age 3. Anybody know who she is or who her parents were?

I'm trying to research the family of Barilla Brown. She was born 1815 or 1820 in Virginia, as was her younger sister Martha Brown. Their brother Calvin was born in Tennessee.

Looking for who were the parents of Barilla/Martha/Calvin and how/when did they make their way from VA to AL. Martha married John Potter.
